Cowan Pottery -F Luis Mora Navajo Mother 1930 VERY RARE
It is my opinion that this is one of the rarest Cowan Pottery Limited Slip Cast Molded Ceramic Glass Sculptures that is available in today's market. A considerable amount of time was spent researching how many Navajo Woman Sculptures were available and for sale , which was ZERO. The search was performed by myself and a mistake could have been made but it does Znot affect this listing for sale. It's my opinion that this must of been 1 of 20 made since I can't find any! You would think that the major Museums Of Art would have one in their collection , but they don't. They certainly do have drawings, oil paintings, etchings and water colors but not this Sculpture. I could not find this Sculpture in a Museum but there maybe one I missed. Not responsible for an error in this copy.

This Sculpture has been lovingly cared for and enjoyed for over 20 years. If it wasn't time to liquidate some of our collection it would not even be offered For Sale. This is one of the most lovely examples that you will ever see. Luis Mora created this wonderful work of art in 1930 and passed away in 1940.

If you have been collecting and want to really enhance you're Collection you should consider this rare piece. I'm not sure where the measurements went but they vanished! Sculpture is 13" Wide, 10" Deep and its 14 Tall. As you will see in photos Cowan Pottery produced these limited edition Sculptures either in 1 of 20 or 1 of 100 since Cowan did not keep records. I've been looking hard and can't find any for sale , so Im guessing that this rare piece is the 1 of 20 produced.

Reluctantly it's time to sell some pieces and felt E Bay would offer the most world wide exposure for this very highly collectible piece of American History. If you are wanting to start a collection or add to your collection this is a terrific find. The Metropolitan Museum Of Fine Art nor The Smithsonian are NOT fortunate enough to have a Mora Navajo Mother in their collection.

This is a very fine piece of American History and Unfortunately Cowan Pottery closed in 1931. F Luis Mora was born July 27 1874 - June 5 1940 in Uruguayan. He worked in water colors, oils and Tempera, pen and ink, graphitevand etchings. Here is link to Wikipedia detailing his life.
