A cylindrical shaped pattern with a ringed collar that is smooth on the outside with vertical ribbing inside.. These shakers, produced circa 1884 1887, measure 3 ¼ tall, 2 ¾ and 1 9/16 across their starred base. They have limited wear on their base. The glass in these shakers is as clear, bright and vibrant as you could hope for these look exactly as New England Glass intended them to look and exactly as they wished every example that they made turned out.
WE HAVE HANDLED A FEW OF THESE SHAKERS AND SEEN SEVERAL OTHERS AND THIS PAIR IS NICER THAN ANY OF THOSE I DONT THINK YOU COULD FIND A NICER PAIR. They sit in a silver plate holder that is signed JAMES W.
TUFTS WARRANTED QUADRUPLE PLATE BOSTON. It also has the pattern number 606 and the symbol of a T in the center of a 4-pointed star.
This company was in business from 1875 to 1905. This holder measures just about 7 ¼ tall, 4 5/8 long and a tad over 2 wide. One ring is slightly bent; the plating looks to be virtually intact! The floral and geometric decorations are exactly what you would expect from Tufts. They were a quality company that made high quality pieces and this one is no exception. Shakers Provenance: Terry Herron Collection, Green Cv Spgs, FL. NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE RETOUCHED YOU SEE EXACTLY WHAT THE CAMERA SEES! Please see the pictures which are part of the description, and thanks for taking the time to look.
