VINTAGEVERY RARE STEUBEN FOR HAVILAND AURENE GLASS FOOTED OPEN SALT. VERY RARE BEAUTIFUL AURENE GLASS ITEM!! THE PIECE IS IN GREAT ANTIQUE CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS OR REPAIRS.

This gorgeous footed flower form Gold Aurene art glass open salt was made by Steuben Glass. The bottom of the salt is signed with the Steuben mark of AURENE, HAVILAND & CO. From 1910 to 1915 Steuben made glass for Haviland & Co.

NY and used a Haviland signature paint stamp mark. The material is similar to the ink used on Steuben lamp shades and easily washed off. As such, it is rare to find one of these stunning 100+ year old salts with the Haviland signature mark still partially present. The salt has brilliant iridescent color and sheen in lovely hues of gold, blue, purple and pink. This style Steuben salt can be seen in The Open Salt Compendium (Plate 9) by Sandra Jzyk & Nina Robertson. It measures 1-1/2 high, 3-3/4 in diameter at the flared rim and has a cut and polished pontil. It is in very good to excellent condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites to the body of the salt and some small nicks and/or roughness to the four feet that do not hamper it from sitting perfectly steady and true to form. This beautiful piece that can take center stage in any open salt or Steuben glass collection!!

Frederick Carder patented the name"Aurene" glass for the Steuben Company. This type of glass is the highest standard for iridescent glass at the turn of the 20th century.
