Hand etched and signed on the bottom with 14/50, and Kelsey/Bomkamp signatures. Included on the bottom of the vase is also the name of this creation, "Entwined", the classic script Fenton,'F', and USA, all done in the cameo carved technique.
Handcrafted of "Black "Art Glass and cased with "Milk" Art Glass. The design features Clematis flowers "entwined" around the vase. The details AND different levels of carving, on this vase are truly remarkable! The vase measures 10 1/2tall. It is 4 across at the widest point.
Kelsey Murphy and her partner, Robert Bomkamp were cameo artists at Pilgrim Glass. After Pilgrim closed, they formed their own glass studio, called Studios of Heaven, aptly named, indeed! More than one excited collector has decribed these unique Art Glass creations as "simply breathtaking"!
In 2007 they were hired to be designers for Fentons new Studio Glass line. Cameo carving is a painstaking process, requiring both great artistic talent and considerable manual dexterity. After the glass has been annealed, a special mask is firmly taped to the surface. Then, using advanced "vignetting" techniques, each individual piece must be meticulously sandcarved.
Great skill and experience are needed to control this process, since many distinct stages of successive cameo carving may be required to create the incredible depth, delicate shading, and intricate details. Each piece designed by Kelsey and Robert is truly unique. Kelsey & Robert have created some spectacular cameo pieces out of Fenton glass.
