Antique Fredrick Carder Steuben Blue Aurene Art Glass Cabinet Vase. Signed Blue Aurene Art Cabinet Vase by Fredrick Carder Steuben in Excellent Aged Condition. You will be pleased at the GREAT DEPTH of STUNNING Blue Aurene Art Glass Coloring! Made in Corning, New York. NO Chips, Cracks, Hairlines or Repairs! With minor surface imperfections, spots, light overall wear from age. From what I can determine this shape was made from about the 1910 until the mid-1920's. Steuben Glass Works became a division of Corning Glass Works in 1918. Measures 8 1/4" Tall by 24 1/4" Wide (at it's widest point) by 4 1/4 Base Width. Signed on base: "Steuben Aurene". The stock number for the vase is illegible...

Aurene glass was one of the earliest color effects created by Fredrick Carder for Steuben Glass Works. It was first made as an iridescent gold-colored glass, but by 1904 Carder had developed blue Aurene glass. According to Carder, the word Aurene is derived from the chemical symbol for gold and the word sheen. Any questions please ask well in advance.
