By 1888, their older brother, Henry had joined the business consisting of the factory called the Charles Street Works in Stoke-on-Trent, as well as at two other nearby facilities. Before 1900, the 4th brother, Robert who was based in New York, joined.
Having 5 facilities by this time, the popular transferware was added to their product line. The sons of the brothers and then the grandsons joined also. The company grew and prospered.
After WWII in 1952, the "Friendly Village" pattern was introduced and became very popular. In 1968, Johnson Brothers joined the Wedgwood Group. Godden's Encyclopedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks cites the mark #2179 which is on the back as used 1913+.
