Lovely Large C. F. Monroe Wave Crest Kelva Floral Enameled Dresser Box

Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a beautiful "Kelva" Art Glass dresser box by the C. M easures 3 1/2" high with a top diameter of 5 1/8" and base diameter of 5 3/4. "Kelva" is a category of decoration applied to Wave Crest glass which was produced as an opal glass blank and then decorated. There were not as many Kelva decorated items produced so it is much scarcer than other Wave Crest ware which was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910. Much of the opal glass known as Wave Crest was produced by the Mt. As undecorated glass blanks to be decorated by their artists.

This larger size box features a mottled rosey/pink and white background with a beautifully enameled hand painted floral design with flowers that have white highlights and jeweled stamens. The top and base are fitted with a decorative brass band with a tight hinge that opens and closed correctly. The condition of this lovely box is excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. The background color is not faded nor is the paint worn.

There is a no-harm slender "streak" factory flaw in the glass that runs around the base section of the box(see photos). Silk interior has been removed.
