New England Glass Company Fuchsia Amberina Trumpet Vase

This lovely fluted, and ribbed trumpet vase was made by the New England Glass Comany, and has wonderful fuchsia coloring, not the harsh orangie'sh tinge we see on a lot of other Amberina from the period. Washington Glass Company also produced a similar work. Amberina was made by adding gold powder to the batch. This produced glass in the basic amber hue.

Part of the item, usually the top, was reheated to develop the characteristic deep red hue or fuchsia hue. Although Amberina may appear the reverse, bottom in red to the top in amber, this was hard to accomplish.

All early Amberina was mold blown, but cut and pressed Amberina was also produced. This lovely piece is in excellent condition without chips, cracks, or repairs (there is one factory bubble), and it's a nice sized piece at 7-1/8 tall.
