With Bronze Gnomon & Granite Base. Designed by Joel Smith & Judith Sieck 1997. For your consideration, a Steuben masterwork... Offered here is an extremely rare massive signed Steuben SUNDIAL Crystal Sculpture with bronze gnomon and granite base and exquisite engraving detail of the sun's rays.

Perfect for a milestone birthday, Anniversary or for your conservatory or garden room. This big authentic Steuben crystal (made in USA of Steuben's original 10M formula optically pure glass) gem is in scratch free, new in box condition and has no scratches, no damage, no nicks or chips, and no display marks to the crystal. This Steuben sculpture is mouth blown to perfection and then polished like a jewel. The top of the large solid bowl shape is fixed with a bronze gnomon and engraved with Roman Numerals and phrases in Latin and English "the sun shines upon all alike" and the shadow passes light remains. In addition the top is engraved with sun rays streaming and reflected in the various surfaces, appearing and disappearing. This design was classified by Steuben as a Major Work in league with other Steuben pieces like Balloon Rally, Cathedral, Grecian Urn, New York New York. 8" tall by 10" in diameter, with the weight approx. 10+lbs and clarity that Steuben was renown for. This will come packed in it's fine condition linen Steuben box with no stains and no mildew or nicotene odors etc.

With flannel bag and care booklet and black granite base. A fair price for a very rare Steuben masterwork in collector worthy condition. Since the glassworks closed in 2011 and was torn down in 2012 it has been increasingly difficult to find exceptional examples of this art glass.

Steuben Glass was the premier American glass company founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It ranked as the world's foremost artisan glass house.

Handmade by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY, it was frequently the United States' gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben marketed no "seconds, " items that did not meet their exacting standards were destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben, a recognized luxury brand and the ultimate in art glass.
