Consider this Steuben treasure, a signed new in excellent original red leather box. A heavy fire polished cut and angled crystal ice floe magnifies and refracts the light into a rainbow pattern. Poised atop the ice, a polar bear gazes into the crystal clear water below searching for seals and other prey. An early creation of the famed Steuben designer, writer and outdoorsman, the late James Houston and one of the very rare designs in his arctic series (that included companion pieces Ice Hunter and Arctic Fisherman) a rare find. 5" tall by 6" wide and approx. 5lbs, this Steuben classic is crystal clear new in original box with no chips, no cracks, no scratches or signs of use to the glass, no damage to the sterling silver polar bear and no display wear on the bottom. The crystal ice block is fully signed "steuben" in script. This will be packed in it's original correct excellent condition vintage red leather fitted box.

You will be thrilled with this beautiful work of art. When the Ice Bear was available. It was the same retail price as the Arctic Fisherman design.

I have set a very fair price for this rare wonderful Steuben masterwork rarely seen in this superb scratch free new condition. This sculpture is perfectly clear, in the first photo there is some gold glare in the picture which is simply a reflection of something in the room where I took the photo. Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. Recognized as the world's foremost artisan glass house, Steuben glass was hand made by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY.

Steuben glass was frequently the United States gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Items that did not meet their exacting production standards were destroyed by being smashed in a bin.

Thank you for your interest. This is Steuben style #1022 -- first produced in June of 1970. Since that design was so popular it is fairly easy to find empty boxes for that shape. However, each Steuben masterworks box was made and shaped for a specific piece with hidden especially placed foam inserts to protect it's specific design. It is not mix & match.
