Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous and rare Carder Era Steuben Gold Aurene "Atomic Cloud" footed Centerpiece Bowl, shape #3080, c. This impressive centerpiece has an "Atomic Cloud" shape as described in Eric Ericson's book.
This name was not used by Steuben but was given to this shape later by Steuben collectors. Pictured on page 246 Illus.10.119 of book "Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass" by Thomas Dimitroff. The bowl has beautiful coloration in the glass with rich iridescent golden tones on upper body and blue/purple hues on pedestal base. Aurene gl ass was created by Frederick Carder, one of the founders of Steuben Glass in Corning, N. Nice large size stands 5 1/2" high with a top diameter of 10". This stunning piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
Hand blown with the top just slightly off center/uneven. Etched signature on base with "Aurene" and Shape "#3080". Also has another gold label on base which reads Controlled Aurene Glass Haviland & Co. This is the first Atomic Cloud piece I have been in this larger size. This stunning piece is very rare and worthy of being in any Steuben glass collection.
