Kenilworth line white Shrimp bowl (NOT the salad bowl), 2 Charm House Soup / Cereal Bowls glazed in the Pink and Turquoise, used by the Kenilworth line and marked Kenilworth on the bottom, with rare brass metal holder for the bowls. The shrimp / display / presentation bowl can be used by itself, but with the little brass holder, transforms to a chip & dip set.
The two little cups off of the brass metal holder are often referred to as candle holders, but more likely used to hold toothpicks or skewers for your fruit or cheese or fondue dip. The soup/cereal bowls are borrowed from the Charm house line, but glazed in Epicure Pink and Charm house turquoise glaze and used for the Kenilworth line as you see here NOTE : last picture shows Rhythm marked Chartreuse green and gray soup cereal bowls to show you these are interchangeable if you have other of these bowls or want to get more colors - we have the green and gray bowls in the store for sale too! This set is the epitome of mid century modern pieces. This bowl is glazed in the Epicure line Snow White that was used with the Kenilworth - this bowl also has the atomic triangle brass fittings on the bottom from the Kleinman metal company. Kenilworth was a specialty line in the Homer Laughlin history and is their peak mid century modern charm!
These larger shrimp bowls are perfect for display, or as a dip bowl or beautiful presentation bowl or as a serving dish. In the fall of 1955 a special line of buffet ware was created for Jack Kleinman, a distributor of silverware, glassware, and giftware out of New York. The new shape, Kenilworth, was made in the same oven proof body as Epicure. Four glazes were used: white and pink from Epicure and black and turquoise from Charm House. Most of the Kenilworth pieces were made with brass fittings which served as decorative accents to the bases and lids of hollowware from the Kleinman company.
There are at least three different backstamps found on Kenilworth: the coat of arms mark, the simple "Kenilworth USA" backstamp, and a "Made In USA" mark. None of the markings mention Homer Laughlin. Bowl has the standard Kenilworth U. We have more shrimp bowls in the store plus all the rare Kenilworth pieces! Condition: Very good vintage preowned condition. No chips or cracks or crazing on the soup bowls. The shrimp bowl has what appears to have started as a factory mold flaw and has since added a couple small chips on top of it - easily hidden if you put the brass holder over top of it - otherwise clean piece.
Glaze is stunning on all pieces. Brass metal holder and brass feet on the bowl are in excellent shape with little wear, but some tarnishing from age. Pieces may have small factory imperfections such as glaze skips, glaze pops, or sand bumps - common factory production imperfections. Little to no issues on this set. NOTE: Last few pictures show all more colors of the soup/cereal bowls that could work with this set, but this listing is just for the white shrimp bowl, pink and turquoise soup bowls, plus brass metal holder.
