Ruskin Pottery Blue Luster Eggshell Ftd Bowl Signed 1923 Dtd Tucson Estate
From a Catalina Foothills estate in Tucson is this 1923 dated Ruskin Pottery blue luster glaze eggshell footed bowl of good size and well potted configuration. 1920 - 1927 is in fact considered the best period of potting for Ruskin. In this case there is both a stamp mark "RUSKIN / ENGLAND" (somewhat smudged as usual) and also the definitive clearly impressed "RUSKIN / 1923 / ENGLAND". The offered beauty shows every bit of what you want in period Ruskin art wares, and called to me literally across the room from a shelf in that home. If you also know the genre or have a love of upper shelf English art pottery, this will do the job in whatever space it is placed. Condition is quite good, with an aura of time to the lovely surfaces - no cracks or chips or any hidden restorations. Under close inspection the interior glaze shows some typical and expected signs of periodic dusting / cleaning during its decades on that shelf. I'm mentioning this for accuracy, since most of what at first looks like wear at the very center of the well is actually the original uneven clotted pooling of the souffle like glaze. Be aware I'm nitpicking for the obsessive here, and a look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size is about 8 in. Across and 2 7/16 in.
