Outstanding green jade over alabaster Steuben American art glass vase as lamp, c. Amazing details, acid etched with two birds of paradise looking towards each other. This pattern is repeated three times. The lamp dates from Steuben's Frederick Carder Era. The glass looks a deeper green in natural light, and a lighter green in artificial light.
The glass vase is set atop a round wooden base. The base presents some losses, and the metal mounts show signs of wear, but the glass vase is in excellent condition. There are a few air bubbles from manufacturing, not distracting (the largest one appears yellow, please examine pictures carefully). The vase is known as Steuben shape # 5000, acid etched green jade over alabaster. A similar example of vase is part of the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass (accession number 2005.4.31), and can be viewed on their website.
The lamp is in working condition. Dimensions: the lamp is medium-sized, with an overall height of 21. The glass is a nice size, at 9" high, and 7" diameter, please preview pictures for more details.
