This stunning antique composte pedestal bowl from Portieux Vallerysthal is a true gem for any collector. Made in France from the late 18th century through to the end of the 19th century, opaline glass is art glass of the highest quality. The compote features a beautiful blue opaline milk glass finish and a glossy look. The bowl measures 6 1/8 inches in height and 6 inches in width. Portieux Vallerysthal blue opaline milk glass compotes are rare pieces of glassware that can be a valuable addition to a collection.

They are made from opaline glass, a type of antique European glass that was popular in 19th century France. Opaline glass is semi-opaque and colored with metal oxides and bone ash to resemble porcelain. Milk glass is another type of glass that can be opaque or translucent and comes in a variety of colors, including blue.
