This listing is for a very Rare and hard to find piece of North American Art glass. It is a hand-blown trumpet shaped tri-corner vase in Plated Amberina Art Glass. This is in perfect condition and has fantastic form and color. Plated Amberina was created and patented by Joseph Locke of The New England Glass Co. In June of 1886 and produced in limited quantities.
It is a heat reactive glass that is blown and formed in amber with a cream cased lining , then reheated again to create the shaded effect from fuchsia red to amber. This glass was never inexpensive to make as the glass batch contained gold. There is considerable wear on the underside of the foot of the vase along the edges. There are some signs of use on the interior of the vase, a bit of surface residue from water.I can find no damage on this with the exception of some very tiny fleabites along the edge of the ground pontil on the underside of the foot... Not from damage but in the making. Also when inspected with magnification there are some tooling marks present in areas of the deep ribbing just before it turns smooth to create the foot. There are bubbles and other manufacturing marks but nothing I would call damage. Hard to believe it has survived in such fine condition!!!
